The Narconon drug rehabilitation program delivered at Narconon Arrowhead is all about saving lives from the suffering and devastation of substance abuse and addiction. When a person is addicted to drugs or alcohol, the suffering and devastation affects their loved ones and their family. The consequences of their addiction and the addiction lifestyle affect all who are a part of the addict’s life at any level. When a person reclaims his or her life from addiction, the end of the suffering and the benefits gained extend far beyond that individual, reaching-out to touch the lives of others.
Before Narconon Arrowhead
Connie is a Mother whose son, Dan, was an addict. This is her story of how she got her son back as a result of him completing the Narconon program at the Oklahoma-based Narconon Arrowhead drug rehabilitation center.
This Mother says that life was a constant struggle and a constant worry. Connie says that you jump when your phone rings, and she guesses that you are always just waiting for that phone call
that is inevitable when your child is a drug addict.
She shares that you know something bad is going to happen. It is going to happen, even if you as a parent do not want to believe it; but that as a parent, a person is finally going to have to come to terms with it. “That’s part of this whole ordeal”, she says.
“Before we found Narconon”, says Connie, “it was scary”. She adds that her son, Dan, was hopeless and defeated; and he had no self-confidence. “He had kind of given-up.”
After Narconon Arrowhead
Connie’s life changed when she found Narconon for her son. She says it was “a huge saving. I got my son back.”
When talking about the program at Narconon Arrowhead and the changes she began to see in Dan as he progressed through it, she says it “started kicking-in about, maybe, half way through.”
She says that each time her son would call, she could hear a change in his voice; that some of the anger had lifted and there was a little humor coming back. Connie says that there was some self-confidence, “and just an all-around better personality.”
As she shares this message with others, she begins to cry, saying that when Dan finished the Narconon program, “I immediately called people and said, ‘I got my son back!’” Still trying to hold back her tears, Connie adds that “it was somebody I hadn’t seen in years.”
Thanks to Narconon, Connie says that Dan is once again the person she hung onto through the whole ordeal of his addiction; and that it was what kept her going. She says she “wouldn’t give-up on him so he wouldn’t give-up on himself, either.”
Now that Dan has reclaimed his life from addiction his Mom says, “He’s funny. He’s very confident. Hopeful.”
“Just the person we all want our kids to be”, says Connie.
